Rockwood Fence Company

Rockwood Fence CompanyIf you are a Rockwood resident, are looking to get a new fence installed in the near future, and are on the hunt to gather information together about how to best accomplish this goal, then you’ve come to the right place. It’s true that one Rockwood fence company is different from the next and not all are created equal, so doing your homework upfront is a smart decision to make.

Feel free to check out various areas of our site where you’ll find plenty of information, but while you are on this page let me tell you a few things that you may want to consider before you choose one particular Rockwood fence company over another.

1) Location – the current economy has caused many Rockwood fence companies fall upon hard times. It’s no secret that many homeowners in the southeast Michigan area (including Rockwood) have been collectively holding off on making purchases of anything and everything that costs more than a cell phone. This applies double to any purchase revolving around real estate. Many residents harbor doubts as to whether or not they’ll be keeping their home for an extended period of time and this mindset causes them to forgo investing any money in their home as they feel they may not get any return on their investment.

This is, of course, a bad decision that can lead to disastrous safety consequences for a child or a pet, but let’s ignore the fact for the moment. The bottom line is that people are not installing as many fences as they used to which in turn has led the average fence company owner from all across the area to try and expand into other areas of business that they had previously avoided in an effort the find a few more customers each month to meet their quota. This means that a local Rockwood fence company may be attempting to go as far out as Ypsilanti in order to find business but it also entails that a Ypsilanti fence company may be trying to find work in Rockwood.

It’s a good idea to give some thought to this unusual situation because you don’t want to be the victim when a company based in another county doesn’t come by to install your fence for weeks and weeks after a price for the work has been agreed upon and a check for the deposit has already been cut.

For this reason it’s best to do business with a Rockwood fence company that works in and around your community each and every day. This one simple, often overlooked, measure will go a long way to help insure your job is completed on time.

2) Rockwood Building Code Standards – obviously, we hope that you’ll choose Veterans Fence Company to install your next fencing system, however if you decided that another company is better suited, make sure that they know what they are doing where local Rockwood regulations are concerned.

Even a brand-new company who has never done so much as dig a post hole can run ads on TV or in the paper, but that’s not a guarantee that they know the ins-and-outs of dealing with the people at the code enforcement desk like a Rockwood fence company would.

3) Properly Bonded and Insured – you’ll want to make sure that you check to insure that the Rockwood fence company you choose to go with in order to install your new fence is properly bonded and insured. If a member of an installation crew injures himself while on your property, his company’s coverage should help take care of his lost time, wages, and medical expenses. If this type of coverage was never procured or was allowed to lapse then the worker might just feel that it makes sense to pursue legal action again you, the homeowner, to get the money he feels he’s entitled to.

Franklin Fence Company

Franklin Fence Company

A properly installed fence can significantly enhance any the appearance of any home.

If you’re like most people, you’ve put off getting a new fence installed for longer than you wanted to. Everyone is busy and intuitively you knew that the process of buying a fence wasn’t going to be like ordering a cheeseburger from McDonald’s. It was going to take time and effort to figure out what you really want and who you want to do the job. The good news is that’s really the only two hurdles you have to overcome. Once you determine the type of fencing will wrap around your property best and select the right Franklin fence company to do the work, you pretty much get to sit back and watch the magic happen.

Selecting the type of fence can be the most time-consuming aspect of the process. It’s a good idea to do some research into different types of fencing so that you can fix a picture in your mind of exactly what you’d like the finished product to look like. While chain link fencing is the most popular material for building fences coast-to-coast, it’s usually not the first choice for those in local area. Most will opt for some type of decorative privacy or semi-privacy fence build for either cedar of vinyl and some will opt for a high-end stone or rod-iron fence. The average Franklin fence company can install wood, vinyl, and chain-link fences with east but not every one will be willing to go the extra mile to install a stone or iron fence. If either of these last two are what you want to go with, be sure to ask your local fence company if they install such products as it’s not a given that they do.

Once you have a good idea about the type of fencing you want to have installed around your home the next, and often more tricky, stage is to select the right Franklin fence company. Not all fence companies are created equal. Some companies, like Veterans Fence, have decades of experience in the fencing industry. You might think that the time in business might not be an important factor in how your fence will turn out, but you’d be wrong. The fence business has it’s own set of issues that need to be managed properly in order to keep 50 or 100 jobs running on time simultaneously. There’s a lot that goes into ordering material, seeing it delivered to the job site on time, having holes dug and posts set before the material arrives, and getting applicable permits pulled before the whole thing is initiated.

Failure to properly systematize is the main reason that a new Franklin fence company will often start up, run for two or three seasons, and then disappear from the phone book. It’s not easy to coordinate dozens of installations while at the same time maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Delays caused by failures in systematization leads to unhappy homeowner which leads to few (if any) referrals. Referrals are the life-blood of any fence company and a start up that cannot earn the respect of it’s previous customers will quickly fail.

Decorative Iron Fence

Decorative Wrought Iron Fence

The reason why this impacts you is that in the intermittent time period between a new company filing their incorporation paperwork and the time that they take down their shingle is when they are trying to get people like you to hire them. Usually, they have little more than price as an incentive to choose them over other, more established, Franklin fence companies. The result of offering to take less for the same work is that they can only hire sub-par, even shady, workers. You know, the type of people who just seem grungy and lackadaisical in their demeanor. You’ve seen those in your neighborhood who have gotten work done from these types of outfits and everyone in the area is happy to see them leave.

The bottom line is that there are plenty of customers out there who are willing to hire the new guy and give him a chance to prove his metal. You don’t have to feel obligated to “give them a chance” where installing your fence is concerned. You are not the only one getting a fence installed this year, so rest assured that they can cut their teeth on a job elsewhere. Don’t run the risk that you’re going to be the customer that they let down so that they can learn “the hard way” that they need to maintain a high level of service if they want to stay in business. Go with a reputable, established Franklin fence company and you’ll avoid 90% of the heartbreak that hundreds of homeowners experience each year when their fence is not installed properly, or on time, or with proper workmanship.

There you have it. The two things that you need to get right in order to have a beautiful fence installed that is a testament to your sense of style and adheres to the overall image you want you home to project in the neighborhood. Spend some time doing the research on what type of fence you want to have installed and choose the right Franklin fence company to do the work. Everything else is just details. Give me a call at 313-381-8530 and I’ll be happy to come out and tell you what our company, Veterans Fence, can do to make your dream a reality. My father founded this business nearly 50 years ago and so you don’t have to worry that we lack the experience to do the job right the first time and you can rest assured that your project is in good hands.

Oak Park Fence Company

Oak Park Fence Company

A Good Fence Is a Great Backdrop for Any Home

Since very few of us get a new fence installed more than once or twice over the entire span of our lifetime, it’s usually a pretty exciting thing when it comes time to do so. It can also be pretty scary when trying to figure out what Oak Park fence company to do business with.

One of the first things you should do is figure out what type of fence you would like to see on your property. There are a lot of factors that are involved. Yes, price is one of them, but if you talk to any good representative from any reputable Oak Park fence company you’ll find that this isn’t the only thing you need to decide in advance before someone shows up at your home.

Each type of fencing has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, chain link fencing will always beat out other types where price is concerned, but it’s terrible if you want to add a bit of privacy to your yard. Vinyl costs quite a bit more, but it also has very minimum maintenance requirements which means both the visual impact and ease of ownership is significantly higher as well. It’s best to do the discussion about the type of fencing you want so that you and anyone else who is involved in the decision making process are on the same sheet of paper where expectations are concerned.

If price is a very significant factor for you and you can’t even have a real discussion without knowing ballpark figures about how much the same fence would cost if it is put up in wood, chain link, or vinyl, you can can give us a call and either I’ll send one of my team members over to get you the info you need or I might even end up doing it myself. Not all Oak Park fence companies will go the extra mile like this, but I’ve found that if I invest a bit more time in the people I work for, they go the extra mile for me and spread the word about our company to their friends and family.

Please give us a call at 313-381-8530 and we’ll set up an appointment time that is convenient for you. Since my dad started this company over 40 years ago we have been doing the utmost to not only meet, but exceed the expectations of those in the community so that we can be considered a Oak Park fence company who provides exceptional service at an outstanding price. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Berkley Fence Company

Berkely Fence Company

Exquisite results can be achieved if you choose the right Berkley fence company.

So this is it. The time has come to put in a new fence. Perhaps the old one let a beloved pet escape and meet a painful death under the wheels of a neighbors SUV. Perhaps one of your children was climbing the fence and got hooked on an old, rusty bit of wire mesh. Or perhaps the old fence just isn’t looking very nice anymore and you’ve come to realize that it’s detracting from the otherwise exceptional appearance of your yard. Whatever the case may be, you know it’s time to get a new fence and that means finding a good Berkley fence company.

Now that your journey has begun, however, you’ve probably already discovered the fact that you know very little about having a fence installed. Considering the fact that very few of us will ever purchase a fence for a home we are living at more than three times over the course of our life, your lack of familiarity with the fence-buying process is hardly out of the norm. Here are a few things that you should be thinking about when you interview the various Berkley fence companies when it comes time to discuss your options and get price quotes.

1. Remember to Check References – there’s a famous saying that it’s not what you say about yourself that matters, but what others say about you. This applies double in the residential and commercial fence industry. My company, Veterans Fence, has been in business since my father founded the business over 40 years ago and in that span of time I’ve been called in more than once to tear out a fence that was put in the ground a few weeks prior because the quality of work was so poor that it simply was unacceptable. So get some references from any Berkley fence company you might interview. It’s best to ask for them right over the phone when you call and request a company representative to stop by your home and give you quote on your particular installation job. They should have plenty of references and testimonials on hand from satisfied customers who would be willing to vouch for them. If they cannot provide such references, then don’t do business with them. It’s the #1 red flag and shouldn’t be disregarded.

6 ft. Cedar Privacy Fence

Privacy fences can be built from either vinyl or cedar, but their visual effect is very different.

2. Talk About Your Goals In Advance – because almost everyone puts off buying a new fence for years before they decide it’s something that has been on the back burner for far too long, a lot of time passes in which different members of a household can develop a different vision in their minds eye of what the yard should look like once the fence is installed. Strangely enough, while we KNOW that we are not mind readers, we all follow the predictable psychological pattern of assuming that others close to us think the same way we do. I can’t count the number of times I’ve arrived at a home to provide a price quote only to find that once we start at the beginning, the selection of what type of fence is desired, both spouses discover that one was hoping for a white vinyl fence and the other had envisioned a cedar privacy fence. These types of things really need to be hashed out before the sale representative arrives. A good Berkley fence company rep can tell you about the features and benefits of different fence types, but they can’t really help you decide what you want in a fence so get that squared away early on.

3. The First Impression is the Only Impression – there are a lot of people trying to “get into” the fence business today because they thinks its as simple as digging a few holes putting in a post with some cement, and then stretching fence across it. This over-simplistic idea of how this business is run means that young, unshaven guys who have shunned a college education in lieu of sitting at home playing Modern Warfare 3 on their Xbox see the fence business as the “magic bullet” that will meet their suddenly-large financial obligations once mom has kicked them out of the house for not showing for 4 weeks in a row. That being said, if someone doesn’t care about their appearance, you can rest assured they care even less about how your home looks. A good Berkley fence company knows that the first impression is the only impression and will take steps to ensure that everyone carries themselves in a professional manner, even though the entire fence industry is all about digging holes in the dirt. Beware the scrungie looking sale representative. If the sales team is unkempt in their ways then the installation crew will be as well.

While it’s true that there are a number of other minor factors which can set on Berkley fence company apart from another, these three factors will have the biggest impact on whether or not your overall experience in having a new fence installed goes well or turns into one of those extended nightmares we are all familiar with. I do everything I can to measure up to a standard of excellence in my own life and I push every member of my team to think and act in the same manner. Give us a call at 313-381-8530 and have us come out to give you a quote. Once your fence is finished, I’m sure you’ll agree that you’re glad you did.

South Rockwood Fence Company

South Rockwood Fence Company

A good South Rockwood fence company does high quality work like this.

While Best Buy would have you think that it’s as common as a cold in December, big-ticket purchases are still a relatively rare thing. This applies even more when you consider the fact that stoves, refrigerators, and other high-dollar appliances are lasting longer than ever due to better construction. Getting a new fence is also one of these bigger purchases which are not all that common and so finding a good South Rockwood fence company that can give you all the information you need to make the best decision is probably the most crucial aspect of getting a high-quality fence that will last for years.

Here are a few tips that will get you headed in the right direction in selecting the best South Rockwood fence company. I’ve compiled this list from decades of experience in the commercial and residential fence industry. My father started Veterans fence nearly 50 years ago and I worked under him since I was a boy and these years of experience have cause med to learn a thing or two about this. I consign this knowledge to you in the hope that, even if you don’t choose to work with our company where your project is concerned, you’ll get the very best service from whichever contractor you do commit to.

All Things Really Are Created Equal – while it is true that some uber-rich people will order up a decorative rod-iron fence of a stone wall fence, over 95% of all fences installed these days will be constructed of either the vinyl, weather-resistant wood, or traditional galvanized chain link variety.

Chain Link Fence Production

Locally produced chain link fencing.

These materials are, for the most part, produced locally by a small group of companies. This means that all of the South Rockwood fence companies are getting the materials that they’ll be building your fence with from the same sources. Pricing, then, is very consistent from one company to another and if you get more than one quote on your job and you see a low-ball quote that sticks out like a sore thumb you have to ask whether or not they are really committing to the same amount of work that the others understood you to be looking to get done, cutting corners that will result in a poor quality fence, or doing something else that is shady like old-fashioned bait-and-switch tactics. If all things are equal (and they usually are in this line of work) why would one South Rockwood fence company be significantly lower on price than another? That’s something to watch out for.

Company Track Record – I can’t stress enough how important it is to go with a company that has been in business for a number of years and has a proven track record that they can substantiate by providing you with references or testimonials upon request. The fence business attracts a lot of start-ups because they think that they can rent a post-hole digger and buy some materials with their personal credit card and then “be in business”. This business is a lot more complicated than that though. There are a lot of factors which must be managed in order to keep multiple installation jobs running on time all at simultaneously. Break downs in the process occur and people get upset when extensive deals leave them with holes dug and posts sticking up out of the ground but no completion of the job in sight. Older companies (5+ years in business) will have worked through these common issues and have systems in place to keep things going on-target. Go with a South Rockwood fence company that has a consistent track record and ask for references. Nuff said.

General Professionalism – digging fences is a dirty job. When your job is to dig holes in the ground, there’s no way to get around it. That doesn’t mean that a company should hire “dirty people”. You know what I mean. Unreliable types who declare their “screw the world” attitude by purposefully neglecting their appearance. More often than not the outside is a display of what’s going on inside. A good South Rockwood fence company will work hard to maintain a professional outlook and disposition. If the sales rep that is sent out to your place to give you a quote on your fence project is clean and professional in his demeanor then you can bet that the company management takes that seriously and you can more than likely expect to see more of the same from the installation crew. Nobody likes to have jerks on their property…no matter how cheap a job can be done. Saving an additional $100 on a full-yard fencing project is usually not worth it if the people doing the work play offensive music at a loud level, use foul language, or do other things which will offend your neighbors and bring evil stares your way from the general direction of their porch or front windows. Watch for professionalism like a hawk.

These three tidbits of advice may seem simple, but people forget to actively keep an eye out for them. Don’t neglect these three basic areas of inquiry and you are sure to pick a good South Rockwood fence company to put in your new fence for you. As I said before, I encourage you to give my company, Veterans Fence, a call at 313-381-8530 and ask us to come out. I take pride in the fact that my team meets or exceeds expectations in all of these areas and I’d like to prove it to you. I hope to see you soon.

Birmingham Fence Company

Birmingham Fence Company

Decorative Cross Latice Cedar Privacy Fence

You probably already know that each and every aspect of your home will work to either enhance or detract from it. Every detail serves to either make it more beautiful or mar its appearance. While we value our eyes and hands because we are conscious of using them all the time that doesn’t mean that our knees and toes are less important to us just because we actively think of them less. We wouldn’t do so well without our shoulder, would we? In the same way a home that is beautiful in every way but has a hideous roof of cracked and curling is not something to be admired but because of this one serious shortfall it becomes a blight on the community. You can start to see how this same line of though applies to the type of fence you choose to install and maintain around your home and the single biggest factor in how well it performs its given function will be the Birmingham fence company you contract with to do the job of putting it in.

Of course, purchasing a fence is a rare event. While we may buy clothing to wrap our bodies in many times throughout any given year, we may only buy a new fence to wrap the home we live in two or at the most three times in our entire life. Having little to no experience in these types of purchases means that most of us are at a disadvantage where the knowledge and skills at researching, interviewing, and hiring the right Birmingham fence company are concerned. In fact, I bed that is the reason why you’re here reading this article right now. You want to know more about the fence installation process and you want to know how to weed out the good fence contractors from the bad.

My name is Brian Teets, and my family has been in the fence for nearly half a century. My father, a war veteran, came back to Michigan and decided that he would use the intangible skills of courage and perseverance to start his own business. Veterans Fence company was born and once my dad put his hand to the plow, he never looked back.

I was brought on at an early age to run the heavy equipment used to dig post holes and haul bags of cement in the summer heat year after year. My father put me through an informal apprenticeship process where he taught me that I needed to put out of my mind the idea that installing fencing was all about putting posts in the ground and stretching some material across it. He welded into my mind that the fence business was really a people business and that no Birmingham fence company could survive in the long run without abiding in the good graces of its customers. It is this knowledge, this basic understanding of the “real business” within my business that allows me to reach out to people and help them express their true desire for what they want their fence to accomplish and then show them what our company can do to make that a reality.

It is true that my company will never be a giant in this industry. While it is possible that one day some young buck will startup a Birmingham fence company that will come up with some slick marketing campaign and sales process and become the “Rock Financial” or “Wallside Windows” of the Metro Detroit fencing business – but it won’t be me. I’ve followed in the footsteps of my father for too long. His old-fashioned business practices have served us well over the past five decades, and while I like to think of myself as having more than a fair share of youth, I will admit that I’m too old to abandon my roots and try to transform Veterans into something that it was never intended to be.

Beautiful Vinyl Fence

A beautiful fence can enhance the presentation of any Birmingham home.

That isn’t to say that I don’t know that price is an important factor to each and every one of you who’ve chosen to read this far. I right a tight ship in order to keep overhead down and I purposefully keep the communication lines open with local fencing material suppliers. Common-sense methods like this go a long way for a smaller company like mine and it means that I am still able to give you the best quality fence at the best price, you can be sure about that. On the other hand, I don’t run the type of Birmingham fence company that will cut corners, fail to pull permits where required, or hire unreliable workers who fail to show up and get the job done in a timely manner because customers inevitably are dissatisfied with the end result of these devious means of cutting costs. They smile when they see the too-good-to-be-true price on the initial quote but they never call back for other projects nor recommend such companies to their friends and family. The obvious result of running things this way (the right way) is that our prices are not the lowest, but they are the “best” when all things are weighed in the balance.

I encourage you to give me a call at 313-381-8530 and have me out to your place. I love lemonade and if you have a bit of it on hand I’ll sit down with you and yours and listen as long as you can talk while you tell me everything you want to see happen with your new fence. I look forward to showing you the difference that working with a multi-generational family fence company can bring to the table in helping your achieve you goals for wrapping your home in a new, attractive frame that integrates perfectly with the overall style you are looking to achieve for your grounds.

Gibraltar Fence Company

Gibraltar Fence Company

Beautiful Decorative Fence in Gibraltar

Most people will only have a new fence installed on a home they live in one or two times in their lives. This means that they have very little contact with the industry and know even less about how the average Gibraltar fence company does business. You might think that things are rather straight-forward and regulated like any other home contracting field such as electrical repair or HVAC installation. Unfortunately, if that’s the idea you have about the fencing industry, you’re very much wrong.

While many municipalities have some permit requirements for installing a fence on either personal or commercial property, many do not. This lack of regulation means that there is very little accountability in between various Gibraltar fence companies who work in the local area. Furthermore, while installing fence as a business is not something that is easy to do for the long run, it’s something that is easy to get into. You could send in some sole proprietorship paperwork today via FedEx, rent a post hole digger, get a line of credit at a local commercial building materials supplier and be in business tomorrow. This makes the fence installation business the wild-west of the small contracting industries.

So how can you know that the Gibraltar fence company that you’re working with provides quality product, great customer service, and proper follow-up? Here’s a few things to keep in mind that will go a long way in helping you achieve that goal:

1) Check References – any company that has been in business for more than a handful of years should be able to supply references (if not full-blow testimonials) from happy customers who are willing to share their experience with you. Either ask for two or three previous customers right-off-the-bat when you call and ask for someone to come out and give you a quote so you can call the references up before the rep shows up at your front door, or ask that he bring them along when he stops by. If you choose the later, make sure you don’t make any commitment to buying a fence the same-day as you need to take some time to CALL the references and ask about how their experience with that particular Gibraltar fence company went when they had their fence put in. For this reason, it’s usually best to get the references up-front so if you like the price and style that you are shown, you’ll already know if the company follows through after the deposit is made and you can choose to move ahead with your project instead of waiting a few days.

Removeable Pool Fence

Got a little one? Get a high-quality removeable fence to protect them from disaster!

2) Look for Professional Behavior – I know from experience that there is a lot of difference in how the team members of one Gibraltar fence company conduct themselves when compared to another. The sales representative is the first contact and most companies who know what they are doing tell their people that the first impression is the only impression. If a particular sales rep seems lazy, disinterested, and has an unpleasant demeanor or appearance, you can be assured that the installation crew will be worse. Try to stick with a company who sends their sales people out in business casual attire and show an attention to their appearance and you’ll likely get the same type of people digging holes in your ground and interacting with your neighbors.

It may seem like a short list, but keeping an eye out like a hawk for these two factors will serve you well in choosing the right Gibraltar fence company. At this point I’d like to say that our company, Veterans Fence, has served this area for over 40 years. My father started the company and has taught me from the time I was a boy that the way you treat people will determine whether you are successful in this business or not. Pricing on fencing between one company or another doesn’t vary much because the costs of materials are pretty much fixed, but the way you treat people goes a long way in determining whether or not they recommend you to family and friends. I always keep this in mind and strive for excellence in every fence project my team takes on. Please give me a call at 313-381-8530 and give me a chance to show you how a fence company should do business. I assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

Ypsilanti Fence Company

Ypsilanti Fence Company

A good fence company gets the job done right the first time.

Are you looking to get a new fence installed in the near future? Are you here because you’re looking for information that will help you figure out exactly what type of fence you should buy and what Ypsilanti fence company you should hire to do the work? Then feel free to read on because we’ll cover all of those questions below.

First of all, you need to determine for yourself early on what exactly you want you new fence to accomplish. If you just want something that will keep your kids safe and stop your pets from running free through the neighborhood, a chain link fence might be great. If, however, you want your fence to provide privacy from the neighbors for your weekly summer barbecues, or you want your fence to serve as a decorative frame for your home, you’ll likely want to upgrade to wood or vinyl construction fence. Most Ypsilanti fence companies are able to install any of the major fencing types but not all will tell you why you should go with one over another so here’s the benefits of each type of fencing in order:

Chain Link Fencing – this fencing works well if you need a fence in a hurry. This is still the #1 type of fencing installed in America so most Ypsilanti fence companies have a bunch of it in stock so there’s no wait for materials to be produced. Also, there’s no custom fit requirements such as you often have with vinyl and treated wood, so the only limitation on how quickly a chain link fence can be installed is how many jobs are ahead of you in the queue. Chain Link fence is still the most inexpensive fencing option as well, so for those who are working with a tight budget this may be the best choice for that reason alone.

Custom Wood Fence

Beautiful Cedar Fencing

Wood Fencing – most wood fencing comes in the form of tall privacy fencing. Some are semi-privacy setups where the full-plank portion only goes up to eye level and the rest of the fence if finished off to the top with some type of decorative lattice. Wood fencing comes in either pressure-treated or true-cedar varieties. Since the pressure-treated pine isn’t know to last as long and the chemicals used to keep it from weathering gives it a slightly “greenish” color, most people choose to go with Cedar instead. While cedar is more expensive, it is the usually the best option for those looking to get a fine-quality wood fence installed by their Ypsilanti fence company. It happens to be a bit cheaper than vinyl as well, so that’s another added benefit.

Vinyl Fencing – since its introduction to market as a fencing application years ago, the vinyl fencing setup has enjoyed increasing popularity year-over-year. Since it is a synthetic material it never rots, ever. Newer advances in pigment synthesis means that the colors don’t fade or yellow anymore as they did in the first few years when vinyl was made available. Vinyl fencing never needs to be painted, comes in a variety of colors, and a number of styles. There are a few downsides with vinyl fencing though. First of all is the fact that, with the exception of exotic custom fencing such as rod iron, it is the most expensive of the three main types of fence. Another factor is that there is usually a wait time for your fence to be produced by the manufacturer. This means that there can be some initial delay that your local Ypsilanti fence company has no control over. Nothing a little patience can’t overcome, but it’s something that needs to be kept in mind when buying a vinyl fence. Finally, vinyl fencing can be damaged by grass trimmers. The gass-powered trimmer with its sharp edged polymer string can cut through the bottom of a vinyl privacy fence like butter. If you maintain your lawn yourself, just be aware of this and it won’t be an issue. If you hire someone to do it for you, just make sure they area aware that they should not make contact with the fence itself with their tools of herbal destruction.

Now that you know what the main types of fencing are you are able to sit down and have a discussion about what you really want in a new fence. Be sure to discuss the project idea with anyone in your home who needs to be included in the decision. From there, please give us a call and either I will come out myself or I’ll send one of my hand-trained team members who will be able to discuss your project with you at length, make recommendations, and give you a price quote. If you check out our About Us page, you’ll see that we’re a Ypsilanti fence company that cares about the work we do for our customers because it has been the word-of-mouth advertising that has kept Veterans Fence in business since my father started this business over 40 years ago. I maintain that traditional of excellence and I can assure you that you’ll be given the best level of customer service that is available from any local fence company. You wont’ be disappointed.

Novi Fence Company

What’s the most daunting thing about getting a new fence installed at your home or business? Finding the right Novi fence company of course! A lot of factors go into getting a great fence put in that looks nice, lasts for years, and doesn’t cost you an arm-and-a-leg but the single biggest thing that will impact all of these areas is whether you choose a good contractor or not.

Novi Fence Company

A Stylish Fence Like This Will Enhance Any Home

Since this one choice can cause your entire experience to play out well or turn into a disaster, it’s in your best interest to get it right the first time. But exactly how does one go about choosing a fence company? In fact, what separates the “good” Novi fence companies from the bad? Don’t they all dig holes in the ground, put in posts, and then throw up the main fencing material? They all pretty much install the same variety of materials, right? It’s not like one company has a corner on the treated Cedar privacy fencing market while another is the decorative vinyl king. So what type of difference should one look for?

These are all good questions, and I’m going to answer them shortly. Before I do, let me tell you that I’ve been involved in the contract fence installation industry since I was a boy. My father, Jim Teets, founded the Veterans Fence Company almost half-a-century ago and, being the oldest son, I soon found myself assigned to a post hole digger working alongside my father. Decades have passed since those early days and I’ve seen newer companies start up, struggle to grown, and then disappear. I’ve learned that many of the basic principles on how you treat people are the “stuff” that keeps a company going for the long haul because people who are pleased with your service tend to like you, and people that like you tend to refer you to friends and family.

While I would love to earn your business, I know for a fact that I’m not the only Novi fence company in town. I know that some of you reading these words will, for one reason or another, choose to go with another provider. That being the case, I extend this free information based on my years of experience in the fence business to help you in selecting the best fence company to complete your job. I only ask that you give me a call too so that my team can show you exactly what we can do for you and at what price. I pride myself on that fact that my hand-picked and well-trained team members carry themselves in a kind and courteous manner while at the same time having a high level of knowledge to address all of your questions. I also feel confident that we offer the best price on any fence installation job foot-for-foot of any company in the area. That being said, let’s go over the three main things you need to consider when looking for a Novi fence company.

Proven Track Record – the first thing you want to do is make sure you go with a company who has more than just a few years of experience. This may seems harsh, right? After all, doesn’t the new guy need to be given a chance in order to allow him to build up a reputation of his own? I can sympathize with that line of thinking, but I also know that so-called “fence companies” are popping up every year and end up gone within two or three seasons. The main reason for this is that they don’t know the ins-and-outs of the business and so they end up making more than their fair share of mistakes. This means customers are dissatisfied and don’t recommend them to others which results in the business dying a long slow death. While we may all say that this survival-of-the-fittest pattern is good for our community as a whole as only the stronger companies survive, the problem is that while these inexperienced companies are being weeded out homeowners and business owners such as yourself are being harmed in the process. There are plenty of people who are NOT reading this article who can participate in this pattern of capitalistic Darwinism and you don’t have to feel guilty about not joining them in their fun. Choose a company that has been in business for at least 5 to 10 years, can provide a few good testimonials about their level of service, and you’ll avoid 70% to 80% of the problems that can (and usually do) crop up.

Professionalism – I don’t know of anyone in this business who wears a suit-and-tie to work so I wouldn’t expect any Novi fence company rep to show up dressed to the hilt and trying to impression you with a fancy car. That doesn’t mean that they should act in a low-class manner. It’s important to remember that the company’s management teams sets the pace for all the employees. If you don’t get a good first impression from the sales representative who’s given the job of helping you select the right type of fence to meet your needs, measure the area that needs to be covered, and provide a basic price quote, you probably are not going to be satisfied with the bearing of the installation crew when they show up either.

Pricing – while it’s usually a good idea to still get two or three quotes on your fencing project, it will most likely be that you won’t find a big variance in the different price quotes between you receive from various companies. As long as you are comparing fencing that is similar in material and covers the same area with the same number of large-cost items such as gates, the prices should come out rather similar because just about every local Novi fence company gets their materials from the same small group of producers. Pricing differences, then, are going to have to come from somewhere. Beware of big differences in bids from one company to another. Usually, a to-good-to-be-true low price is just that and can only be achieved by doing something shady like not pulling necessary permits (if your job requires it) or hiring under-the-counter workers who tend to be less reliable.

You now have the information you need to get your search for a new fence started on the right foot. Again, I’d like to ask that you give my company a call at 313-381-8530 and provide me with a chance to come out to your place and chat with you about exactly what you’re interested in accomplishing where your new fence is concerned. I’m not going to toot my own horn and tell you that we’re the only game in town, but I can assure you that we are the type of Novi fence company that provides quality work at a great price and I’m not planning on changing up the business practices that has kept up going for over 40 years anytime soon.

Melvindale Fence Company

Are you interested in having a new fence installed? Are you wondering which Melvindale fence company would be the best one to go with if you want to get the best price for the best product and service? You’re not alone. Every year hundreds of people in the area realize that it’s time to get a new fence. Unfortunately, because buying a fence isn’t the type of thing anyone does more than a few times in their lifetime, it’s not easy to know how to get the best deal. And unlike buying an appliance online, there’s not going to be many review sites that will tell you about why one type of fence is better than another like there are site telling you why one stove is better than another.

Melvindale Fence Company

Plan ahead and getting your new fence installed will be a breeze.

Here’s a few tips. Think about what you want from a fence in advance. This is one aspect of the fence buying process which a good Melvindale fence company can’t do for you. If you just want to have your yard enclosed to keep kids and pets in and keep pets and varmints out, then a chain link fence will probably work. If you have a pool going in, and you don’t want the neighbors sitting on his back porch staring at your 10-year-old daughter and her friends while they are jumping in the pool, you might need a privacy fence. A general rule of thumb is that the more you expect your fence to do for you, the more it’s going to cost.

Once you have a good picture in you mind of what the fence needs to do, walk out to your yard and think about what it would looked like wrapped in your new fence. Residential fencing is broken down into three main types based on material: chain link, cedar, and vinyl. Let’s talk about the good and bad features of each of these types:

Chain Link – this type of fence is the most common perimeter fencing seen across America today. Both the posts and the actual fencing material are made from galvanized steel. This means that it is very resistant to moisture and won’t rust for many, many years. This type of fence is inexpensive to install and, because most Melvindale fence companies (including ours) keep plenty of this type of fencing on-hand, you can get it installed rather quickly without any significant material workup delay. This type of fencing offers no privacy from the neighbors which is good if like talking to your neighbor over the fence every now and then, and bad if you like to have a bit more seclusion at your home.

Cedar – most treated wood fences that we install are full privacy projects. They extend from the ground to about 6 ft. high and block pretty much all lines-of-sigh save those coming from a second-story window. These types of fences are more expensive to install, and even though the wood is treated, don’t last as long as either chain link or vinyl fencing. Eventually, the posts will begin to wear right at the ground level where the rain constantly splashes up against the posts during each and every storm, wearing away at the wood. The good thing is that this usually doesn’t happen for a long, long time. When a post does go, it’s usually only one or two every five years or so, and these are easy to replace without replacing the entire fence. Most Melvindale fence companies offer installation of these types of fences and because the cost is low, they remain the most popular privacy fence out there.

Vinyl – since it’s introduction to the residential fence market years ago, vinyl fencing has enjoyed a good bit of favor from homeowners coast-to-coast. Early versions of the vinyl fencing used to fade, especially if it was a white fence, but advances in materials science has made this an issue of the past. While white still remains the most popular color choice, you can order vinyl fencing in black, tan, green, brown, and clay colors. The fence material itself has to be produced to order, so it takes a little while longer to get your fence finished up once the order has been submitted. All-in-all, vinyl fencing offers the most variety of choice where fencing is concerned. Full-privacy is the norm, but semi-privacy and other styles are available from most well-stocked Melvindale fence companies as well.

Chain Link Dog Run

Now these little guys will be safe.

Remember, it’s up to you to install whatever type of fence you feel is best for your home and family budget. We don’t discriminate between customers who want to have a simple dog run installed vs. those who want to have a whole-house vinyl fence put in like some other Melvindale fence companies. When my father Jim started Veterans Fence Company over 40 years ago, he taught me that everyone deserves good customer service. Give us a call at 313-381-8530 and give us a chance to show you why this driving principle has kept the phone ringing year after year as friends tell family which tell more friends and family. The process keeps going because we know that you won’t let us down if we don’t let you down.
